Answer: The boy had involved himself so much in the game that he had no estimation about the time. The garden is described as darkening because it was too late and dark (end of the evening) and all the children were left for their home.

(c) What does the garden watch?

Answer: At the end of the poem, the poet advice the boy that now it is time to come out and tell others that he has won the game. Reacting to the advice of the poet, the boy came out from behind the sacks and the toolshed by saying loudly that he is the winner and nobody could find him, and this is what the garden watches.

(d) Why doesn’t anything stir?

Answer: “Anything doesn’t stir” since it was too late. All other children left for home and no one was behind the bushes to create the noise.

Answer: ‘Push off the sacks’ means to push the sacks to come out from the toolshed since the boy was hidden behind the sacks in the tool shed.

Question 18: Do you think the child is happy for not being found by the others in the end?

Answer: The child is not happy for not being found by the others in the end because he wanted to be the winner, but he is too late. There he is standing all alone realizing the consequences of the negligence in his hiding and losing all those who sought him.
