Answer: Navy Day is celebrated on 4th December. It is important to the Indian Navy because one of the Indian Navy’s most daring and courageous operations took place on 3 and 4 December 1971 during the Indo-Pak War in which many of Pakistan’s ships were destroyed in the Karachi Harbour.

The Engineer Officer, the Electrical Officer, the Logistics Officer, all take care of various needs on the ship.

Answer: Administration should be efficient on a ship because life at sea is challenging and quick decisions have to be taken. Every individual is entrusted with a specific role for which he/she has been specially trained. Some officers in the ship would be proficient navigators while others may be experts in the use of weapons such as missiles, guns and torpedoes.

Answer: Life on board a ship or submarine is like a home away from home as the administration on a ship is efficient and takes care of its inmates. There are different departments which are assigned different responsibilities. The Engineer Officer maintains the ship, the Electrical Officer maintains the capability to generate and distribute electricity on-board and looks after the weapons and sensors. The Logistics Officer looks after the supply of food, clothing and fuel and ensures that the men are well taken care of. A small kitchen which is called the galley is the life of the vessel wherein two or three cooks working round the clock in a small, confined space produce sumptuous and hygienic meals for their shipmates. While the ship is at sea, the families are taken care of by the family welfare cell which works 24/7.

It serves as a catalyst for peace, tranquility and stability. Whenever there are natural calamities such as floods, tsunami or cyclone, the Navy rushes to assist the nations that need support and assistance. By providing humanitarian help when required the Navy is able to enlist the friendship of these nations and usher in peace, not war.
