The Capturing of Ironman Questions & Answers
Question 1: What did Hogarth see at the top of a cliff? Describe it.
Answer: Hogarth saw the Iron Man at the top of a cliff. The Iron man was a large, black figure who was made of metal. He was taller than a house and had eyes that looked like large green headlamps.
Question 2: Why were the farmers angry?
Answer: The farmers were angry because all their metal machinery like their tractors, earth diggers, ploughs and harrows had all disappeared.
Question 3: What was the clue that told the villagers that the Iron Man had eaten their machinery?
Answer: The clue was the set of giant footprints in the fields where the machinery was missing. It told them that the Iron Man had eaten their machinery.
Question 4: What made the villagers believe that the Iron Man was real?
Answer: One morning, the villagers were shocked to notice that their tractors, earth-diggers, ploughs and harrows were missing and there were giant footprints in the fields. Wherever there were footprints the machinery was missing. This made them believe in the existence of Iron Man who probably lived by eating machinery.
Question 5: Why couldn’t the farmers call the police or army for help?
Answer: They couldn’t call the police or the army for help because nobody would believe that an Iron Monster had eaten their machinery.
Question 6: What plan did the farmers make to catch hold of the Tron Man?
Answer: The farmers dug a very deep, wide hole at the bottom of the hill where the Iron Man was seen. They covered this hole with layers of branches, straw and soil so that it looked like a freshly ploughed field. Then, they placed an old rusty red lorry on the hole. They hoped that the Iron Man would come down to eat the lorry and then, fall into the hole. Once he had fallen in, they would bury the Iron Man in the hole.
Question 7: Why were the farmers and villagers certain that they would trap the Iron Man?
Answer: The farmers and villagers were certain that they would finally trap the Iron Man. They had just dug a deep hole and placed a bait for him and so, they were sure that he would soon be caught.

Question 8: What did Hogarth do to get the attention of the Iron Man?
Answer: Hogarth made the clinking noise to get the attention of the Iron Man and lead him to the trap.
Question 9: How did Hogarth prove that Iron Man really existed, when the villagers started doubting the existence of Iron Man?
Answer: The villagers first strongly believed that only the Iron Man had eaten their machinery. So, they laid a trap to capture him. But when their efforts failed, they started doubting whether the Iron Man ever came at all. It was Hogarth, who while trying to capture a fox, happened to see the Iron Man, who was pulling up the barbed-wire fence and eating it. But he was going farther from the trap. So, with presence of mind, Hogarth drew the attention of the Iron Man by tapping a nail and knife blade together. The Iron Man, attracted by the metallic sound walked towards him and fell into the trap. Now, the villagers knew Iron Man really existed.
Question 10: What idea did Hogarth think of to trap the Iron Man?
Answer: Hogarth thought of an idea to trap the Iron Man. From his pocket, he removed a long nail and knife. He tapped them together to make a clinking sound to get the attention of the Iron Man and lead him to the trap. The idea was frightening because Hogarth was a small boy and it could have been dangerous for him to try and trap the Iron Man, all by himself.
Question 11: How was the fox responsible in helping Hogarth capture the Iron Man?
Answer: As the villagers had given up hope of capturing the Iron Man, Hogarth decided to capture a fox in the trap. The fox did arrive but soon ran away on seeing the Iron Man on top of the cliff. Hogarth too saw the Iron Man and then he cleverly captured him.
