Answer: During the Lantern Festival, people hang their lanterns high and compete with each other to see who has made the most beautiful one.

One year, as the Lantern Festival approached, the old master set about making a pair of dragon lanterns.

Answer: In China every year, a festival of lanterns is held. People hang their lanterns up and compete to see who has made the most beautiful one.

Answer: The old master was an old craftsman.

Answer: The dragon lanterns had fierce heads, long tails and were painted in fiery colours. They looked like real dragons.

Answer: The old master also made a special ball with coloured ribbons tied to it. When he moved the ball in the air, he could make the two dragons twist and dance.

Answer: Lee, a lazy, dishonest man stole the lanterns. He thought that if he gave the marvelous lanterns to the emperor, he would be rewarded handsomely.

Answer: When the Emperor asked Lee to make the dragons dance, Lee could not do so as the ball that he had made did not have the power that the old master’s ball had. In anger, the emperor threw Lee into the prison.

Answer: On the day of the Lanterns Festival, the old man came out into the streets carrying his ball with coloured ribbons. He started to move the ball in the air and in the palace; the two dragon lanterns flew out of a window and began to dance high in the air above the palace.
