- Prowl – to roam in search of prey or food
- Enchant – to cast a spell on something
- Bower – a shady, leafy shelter in a wood
- Gallant – brave and honourable
- Flank – be on the side of somebody or thing

Question 1: What does the child imagine at bed time?
Answer: The child dreams of castles and dragons, magic fruits and gardens, fair ladies, and gallant men.
Question 2: What does the child find in the morning?
Answer: In the morning, the child finds his magic land gone. He finds a chair in place of the castle, a bath, and a watering can instead of the stream.
Question 3: What do these things become in the child’s thoughts?
Answer:
a. The chair – castle
b. Boots – horsemen
c. The stream – bath and watering can
d. The carpet – garden ground
Question 4: Do all the lines in the poem rhyme?
Answer: The lines rhyme in pairs, e.g. bed – head, round – found, tower – bower.

Answer: The poet finds such pictures at seven when he goes to bed; while sleeping.

(a) What did these take the place of in the dream?
Answer: These took the place of blue streams in the dream.
(b) What other information does the poet give about these when they were a part of the dream?
Answer: The other information is that the streams bordered the land of dreams and that brave horsemen rode beside them.
