Miss Beam’s teaching methods were very difficult/simple. She said that special/ordinary days are very important part of her system/class. The students/teachers are able to appreciate favours/misfortunes because they are made to share/shun misfortune. Each term/day every child has two/one blind day/days, one lame day, one injured day and one/two dumb day/days. During the blind/dumb day, their ears/eyes are bandaged tightly, so that they are not able to see/hear anything.

Answer: The girl says this as the students that have already played the blind day are well acquainted with the challenges of being a blind. Hence, they are more careful and thoughtful.
Question 5: Describe Miss Beam. Which quality did you like in her?
Answer: Miss Beam was middle aged, full of authority, yet kind and understanding. Her hair was beginning to turn grey and had an appearance that was a comforting to a homesick child. I like her being kind and understanding.

Answer: The narrator learnt that –
i. He was ten times more thoughtful than he ever thought he could be.
ii. He realised that if he had to describe people and things to someone else, it would be more interesting.

Answer: If I were a student of Miss Beam’s school, it would have been the blind day that would have been the most difficult, as there is just darkness. There’s always fear of getting hurt. One has to be alert and cautious every time.
Question 8: Why do you think the narrator names the school as ‘a different kind of school’?
Answer: The narrator names the school as ‘a different kind of school’ as no other school teaches, thoughtfulness, kindness to others and being responsible citizens the way, they teach in Miss Beam’s school.

Answer: The narrator said these words to Miss Beam.

Answer: The narrator saw the grounds in the premises of the school.

Answer: Yes, he saw lot of jolly (happy) children, at the same time he also saw not so healthy and active looking children too.

Answer: When the narrator told Miss Beam, about the children with disabilities, she laughed and described that these children are not actually with disability. This is a very important part of her school’s system.
Question 10: Why do you think the narrator was sorry when he finally had to leave?
Answer: The narrator was sorry when he finally had to leave because I think, he wanted to spend more time in the school. He wanted to experience how the children, appreciate, understand and share the misfortune on their special days.
