Question 3: Why did David visit Miss Betsey?
Answer: David was born six months after the death of his father and he also lost his mother while he was still in school. At the age of ten, he was sent to work in a factory in London, which was not fit for him. He had been unhappy since his mother died. It made him run away to escape the harsh working conditions. So, to seek a brighter future for himself, he visited Miss Betsey in Dover.
Question 4: What did Miss Betsey do when David began to cry?
Answer: When David began to cry, Miss Betsey got up in a great hurry and took him into the parlour. She unlocked a tall press, brought out several bottles, and pour some of the contents of each bottle into David’s mouth.

Answer: The bath was a great comfort for David. After taking bath, his aunt and Janet enrobed him in a shirt and a pair of trousers belonging to Mr Dick, and tied him up in two or three great shawls. David felt quite warm and also started feeling very faint and drowsy. He soon laid down on the sofa and fell asleep.

Answer: David woke up with the impression that his aunt had come, bent over him, had put his hair away from his face and laid his head more comfortable and had then stood looking at him. The words, ‘Pretty fellow,’ or ‘Poor fellow,’ seemed to be in his ears too.
No, he was not sure that this event had taken place because he said it might have been a dream and certainly there was nothing else.
Question 7: What thoughts crossed David’s mind before he fell asleep?
Answer: Before he fell asleep, Davidthought of all the solitary places under the night sky where he had slept, and how he prayed that he never might be houseless any more, and never might forget the houseless. He remembered how he seemed to float, then, down the melancholy glory of that track upon the sea, away into the world of dreams.
