The speaker says that she likes Giraffes. She gives many reasons for liking them. She likes them because their heads up high and their necks stretch to the sky. She says they are calm, quiet and shy. They run so fast that it feels like they fly. She says she likes them because they have velvet brown eyes and their coats are spotted tan. Finally, she says that she likes giraffes also because they like to eat the tops of trees and have knobby knees.

Question 2: Are Giraffes gentle and kind animals? Which line in the poem makes you think so?

Answer: Yes, I think giraffes are kind and gentle animals. The line, ‘because they are quiet, calm and shy’ makes me think so.
