How I Went To Why Questions & Answers
Question 1: Whose guest had the narrator been for some time?
Answer: The narrator had been the guest of His Majesty, the Wallypug at his palace in the mysterious kingdom of Why.
Question 2: What was enclosed with the letter from His Majesty, the Wallypug?
Answer: A little packet was enclosed with the letter bearing the words, “The shortest way to Why. This side up with anxiety.”
Question 3: Name the places to which the fingerpost pointed?
Answer: The fingerpost pointed to – Somewhere, Nowhere and Everywhere Else.
Question 4: What was unusual about the crow sitting on the fingerpost?
Answer: The unusual thing about the crow sitting on the fingerpost was that he held a newspaper and wore spectacles.
Question 5: Who was drawing the carriage and who was sitting inside it?
Answer: A kangaroo was drawing the carriage and an ape was sitting inside it.

Answer: The narrator wanted to go to the kingdom of Why. He wanted to go there because he had been invited by His Majesty, the Wallypug of the kingdom of Why.

Answer: The strange things that could happen in the kingdom of Why were that it was a place where animals not only talked but also took an active part in the government of the land. In the kingdom of Why, one could receive an invitation to an evening party from an ostrich or could be expected to escort an elderly rhinoceros in to dinner. It was a place where it was quite an everyday occurrence to be visited by a hen with a brood of young chickens.
Question 11: Who invited the narrator to the Kingdom of Why? Why did he invite the narrator?
Answer: His Majesty, the Wallypug of the Kingdom of Why invited the narrator to the land of Why. The Wallypug wanted the narrator to help him in establishing some of the social customs and methods of government in his kingdom.
Question 12: How did the narrator reach the kingdom of Why?
Answer: The narrator reached Why by opening a packet enclosed with the letter that the Wallypug had sent him. The packet said it was the shortest way to Why. It said, “This side up with anxiety.” When the narrator carefully opened the packet, a gust of wind came through the window and blew open the paper wrapper, scattering the white powder that was inside it. Some particles flew up into the narrator’s eyes and hurt his eyes. The narrator was forced to close his eyes for some time till they stopped hurting. When he opened his eyes, he was on an open land.

Answer: The narrator describes Mr Nobody as a curious-looking little person. He had an enormous head and no body. His arms and legs seemed to be attached to his head. Mr Nobody gave his visiting card to the narrator.
