Answer: Mr. Earl was glancing up at the third graders to make sure none of them were talking or passing notes, or looking out of the window. His glare means that child’s name would soon go up on the board with the other kids who had lost their lunch privileges for the day.

Answer: When he opened his desk to put in his lunch box, he saw a cloud swirled in the space and at its centre was a dull, pulsing red glow.

Answer: His book had disappeared into the sun along with everything else. Parker could not explain what had happened that is why the teacher got angry and threw open his desk. So, the teacher went down quickly, his feet vanishing into the desk last.

Answer: Sun was getting energy from the gravel, pebbles, twigs and gums that Parker was feeding and from the school supplies kept in his desk.
Question 7: ‘Careful, Mr Earl,’ said Parker. What did Parker want to warn Mr Earl about?
Answer: Parker wanted to warn Mr Earl about the sun that was in his desk.
Question 8: Why do you think Parker would not speak about what was going on inside his desk?
Answer: Parker would not speak about what was going on inside his desk because nobody would trust him.
Question 9: Why did a long silence fill the room? What do you think were the children’s feeling at that moment in time?
Answer: A long silence filled the room because Mr Earl had disappeared into the desk. The other student had not moved because they all were shocked.
