Question 1: Write True or False for the following sentences:

1. The child’s handprints were found only on the walls – False
2. The hand prints made the wall dirty – True
3. The child would clean the handprints when he grows up – False
4. The child felt his mother would miss his hand prints – True
5. The child gave a handprint to his mother as a gift – True

Question 2: Where were the child’s handprints found?

Answer: The child’s handprints were found on the windows and on the wall.

Question 3: Were all the fingers on the handprint of the same size?

Answer: No, all the fingers on the handprint were not of the same size.

Question 4: What did the handprints do on the wall?

Answer: The handprints made a big mess on the wall.

Question 5: What would happen to the handprints when the child grows up?

Answer: When the child grows up, there won’t be any more of his handprints on the walls.

Question 6: Why do you think the child wouldn’t leave his handprints once he grows up?

Answer: Once the child grows up he won’t play like a child, and he may go away to some other place to work or study. So, he wouldn’t leave his handprints at that time.

(a) What was the special occasion?

Answer: It was the Mothers’ Day.

(b) What was the child’s present to his mother?

Answer: The child’s own handprint on the wall or the window was the present to his mother.

(c) Why did he give this present to his mother?

Answer: The child knows that when he will grow up, he won’t be able to leave his handprints on the walls or windows. And then his mother would miss them. So, he gave that present to his mother.

Question 8: Write a few pairs of rhyming words from the poem.

Answer: All-tall, wall-small, more-sure, away-day.
