Question 2: How do you think the speaker feels about his nose?
Answer: The speaker feels embarrassed about his nose, but seems to have accepted it as something he has to live with since he cannot change it.
Question 3: What did the speaker’s father tell him about his nose?
Answer: The speaker’s father told him that it was something he would get used to and that, if taunted by children he should remember that there will not only be bigger things he will regret but also that his nose would grow still bigger.
Question 4: Why does the speaker make a mention of elephants and rhinoceroses?
Answer: The speaker mentions elephants and rhinoceroses because they also have big noses.
Question 5: How does the speaker overstate while describing his nose?
Answer: The speaker overstates by saying that he sneezes the leaves off the trees, that ladies faint at the sight of it and that elephants and rhinoceroses have smaller noses. It helps him turn pages in a book and he asks that it be left outside his coffin so that he can smell the flowers when he dies.
Question 6: What message do you think the poet possibly wants to convey through the poem?
Answer: The poet seems to be trying to say that each of us has some aspect of our appearance that we are not very happy about. We should accept this gracefully and not mind people commenting on it.
