Answer: The joy she will not give up is to see faces lit up with happiness.
(c) How is she ensuring that her Joy remains?
Answer: For the past three years, Ananya has been visiting the Ladakh region sharing her skills as a volunteer either teaching or helping setup libraries and playgrounds in the tiny villages.
Question 3: Why did Saket and Salil go to various NGOs? Was their experience the same or different from the others?
Answer: Saket and Salil visited NGOs because they wanted to do something useful for others during their holidays. They also faced similar obstacles as other people. There was hardly any information about volunteering activities.
Question 4: What were the boys motivated to do?
Answer: The boys were motivated to devise an app which can help such people who are wanting to help needy people. They wanted to help so they began brainstorming a method of collecting information about NGOs and their needs. The information, once collected would be shared so that volunteers could find NGOs that needed their help. The volunteers could then offer their services to NGOs.
Question 5: What effect does volunteering have on others according to Saket and Salil?
Answer: According to Saket and Salil, volunteering enables people to show compassion and empathy towards less fortunate ones. They felt that encouraging people to do acts of kindness will bring a positive change in society.
Question 6: What was Ananya’s experience in volunteering and where did she volunteer?
Answer: While working as volunteer, Ananya had wonderful experiences. She could see children space lit up with happiness. She first signed up for a community service programme in her school, which gave her first hand experience in teaching for underprivileged children. She then chose the Ladakh region to share her skill as a volunteer, either teaching or helping set up libraries and playgrounds in the tiny villages.

Answer: The three reasons behind people not volunteering for NGOs are:
- Not having a common platform where one can get information.
- Fear and doubts about genuineness of NGOs.
- Lack of easy access to local NGOs.
Question 8: Ananya’s story supports the idea that information and trust are necessary to work as volunteer explain.
Answer: Information and trust could make Anaya work better as volunteer. She could collect money through crowd funding and utilise it for the welfare of the people. She got first-hand experience in teaching underprivileged children after signing up for a community service programme in her school. Later, she wanted to continue this work, so she made enquiries and got to know about an NGO in Ladakh started by a former school teacher. The information she acquired and the trust in the volunteer programmes led her to do all that work in the Ladakh.
