The Cheshire Cat Questions & Answers

Question 1: What help did Alice want from the cat?

Answer: Alice wanted to know from the cat which way she had to go.

Question 2: What information did the cat give to Alice?

Answer: The cat gave the information that on the right side a Hatter lives and another side, a March Hare lives. They both were mad. So, Alice could visit anyone she wanted.

Question 3: Why did the cat call himself mad?

Answer: The cat was different from the dogs. Generally, a dog wags its tail when it is pleased and growls when it is angry. But the cat called itself mad as it was opposite from the normal ways.

Question 4: Which direction did Alice finally walk and why?

Answer: Alice thought to herself that she had seen Hatter’s before. It would be more interesting to meet March Hare. As it was the month of May, it wouldn’t be raving mad. So, she walked to the direction in which the March Hare lived.

Question 5: What was unusual about the Cat’s grin?

Answer: Alice had seen cat without a grin but she had never seen a grin without a cat. This was surprising to her. The cat kept appearing and disappearing frequently.

Answer: The cat is responding to Alice.

(b) What did the person say?

Answer: Alice asked the cat that which way she had to go.

2. “You’ll see me there,” said the cat and vanished.

(a) Which place is the cat referring to?

Answer: The cat is referring to that place where Alice can play croquet with the Queen.

(b) Why was Alice not surprised when the cat suddenly vanished?

Answer: Alice was not much surprised as she was getting so well used to queer things happening.
