The King Who Limped Questions & Answers
Question 1: Why were the courtiers anxious?
Answer: The courtiers were anxious to meet the new king.
Question 2: How did the king look like?
Answer: The king looked quiet strange. He wore a bowler hat and walked with a marked limp.
Question 3: Who did the king bring with him? Why?
Answer: The king brought with him two men who were neighbours. They were fighting in the street and were blocking the traffic. The king wanted to find out the reason for their quarrel.
Question 4: Why were the two men fighting?
Answer: The two men were fighting over the ownership of a dog. Each claimed to be the real owner of the dog.
Question 5: Why did the Chancellor and the Prime Minister walk with a limp?
Answer: The Chancellor and the Prime Minister walked with a limp because they saw the king entering the palace limping and so, they wanted to please him by imitating him.
Question 6: Who else did not walk properly? Why?
Answer: One of the Ladies-in-waiting did not walk properly. She said that she had a sprained ankle. However, actually, she was a sycophant who also wanted to please the king, who walked with a limp.
Question 7: How did the king return the dog to the right owner?
Answer: It was suggested to divide the dog in two and give both the neighbours half each. Though the first neighbour agreed readily to the proposition but the second neighbour didn’t agree as he could not bear to see the little dog harmed. He offered to give the dog to the first neighbour only. The king understood that the one could not see the dog in pain was the real owner so, he king returned the dog to the second neighbour.

Answer: The king sent the first neighbour to prison because of two reasons:
Firstly, he had breached the peace by fighting in the street.
Also, he tried to steal the dog, which did not belong to him.
Question 9: Why was the king not pleased with the Chancellor and the Prime Minister?
Answer: The king was not pleased with the Chancellor and the Prime Minister because they were sycophants. They wanted to win favour from the king by just flattering him. Moreover, they were not wise and gave thoughtless suggestions for resolving the dispute between the two neighbours.
Question 10: How was the first lady rewarded?
Answer: The king rewarded the first lady by making her chief Lady-in-waiting.
Question 11: Why were the courtiers amazed at the king’s behaviour?
Answer: The courtiers were amazed at the king’s behaviour because earlier they found him quite strange and weird because he was wearinga bowler hat and walked with a noticeable limp. However, the way the king sought the fight between the two neighbours, he proved himself to be a wise, thoughtful and good judge.
