Answer: The boy’s mother said these words to the boy.
(b) Why did the speaker suggest this?
Answer: The mother suggested the way through Donkin’s land as it was the shorter route.
(c) What did ‘you’ think about the suggestion?
Answer: ‘You’ the boy, thought himself that his mother did not understand his reasons for not coming through Mr Donkin’s land.

Answer: The poet takes the long way home because the shorter way crosses Mr Donkin’s house. He has a dog which the boy is scared of.

Answer: Ma asks him to take the footbridge track so that he can get home sooner and also it will enable him to cross wet or marshy land easily.

Answer: He likes to cross the fallen log because it sometimes has lizards in it and he likes to stop and play with the lizards on his way back.

Answer: No, I don’t think so the boy’s home is very far from Billy’s place because there is a direct way to his home through Mr Donkin’s land. However, he chooses to take the long path home because of various reasons.
