Question 1: Why did the boy go to the farmer?
Answer: The boy went to the farmer to get some work.

Answer: The farmer asked him to look after his goats and take them to the hills to graze every day.

Answer: The farmer paid him three copper coins when he had worked for him for three years.

Answer: The boy gave his three coins to a beggar because the beggar said that he was quite hungry and even could not sleep the last night because of that.
Question 5: What did the old man give to the boy?
Answer: The old man was actually an angel who could grant the boy his two wishes. So, he gave him a magic violin and a gun as asked by the boy. The music of the violin could make all men dance and the magic gun would never miss its aim.
Question 6: Where did the boy go then? What happened there?
Answer: Then, the boy then went to the farmer. There, he killed a bird which the farmer claimed his own. But by playing his magic violin, the boy set the farmer dancing. The farmer was tired due to dancing and he promised to give him a thousand silver pieces if he stopped playing the violin. The boy did so and took the thousand silver pieces and went on his way.

Answer: The magistrate punished him because the farmer complained to the police that the boy was a thief and had taken his thousand silver pieces.
In those days, in Sicily, the punishment for stealing was death. It seemed impossible for such a poor boy to have such a large sum of money, so he was sentenced to be hanged at once.
Question 8: How did the boy get the silver coins and his freedom back?
Answer: Before his hanging, the boy expressed his wish to play his violin. The magistrate was kind so, he permitted him. The boy started to play his magic violin. The magistrate, the hangman and the farmer had to keep dancing while, the boy played. At last, the farmer said that he would give him the silver coins. The magistrate said that he would give him his freedom. Thus, the boy got both these things.
