For instance, the Water Rat tells the Mole that there is nothing more interesting and worth doing than just messing about the boat. And the Water Rat also considers the river very dear to him as he says that it is ‘THE RIVER’, which indicates that this is the only river he knows or love.

Answer: The Water Rat and the Mole planned to have a very lavish picnic as the Water Rat came with a luncheon-basket filled with delicious food like cold turkey, cold cheese, pickled gherkins salad, French rolls, cress sandwiches, potted meat, ginger ale, lemonade, soda water etc.
