Answer: By the phrase ‘that moment rare’ the poet means that it does not take place usually. The poet refers to the moment when she is able to hear tiny voices in the air above all the other usual sounds that surround and distract us.

Answer: The poet describes the insects as little because of their size and since they are little, they also have ‘little throats’ which produce small sounds that can go easily unnoticed in the bustle of the human world.

(b) Where do the little throats rise up to?

Answer: The little insects with their little throats rise up into the air, and fly in the sky towards the light of the sun.

Answer: The little throats are the insects such as the bee and the fly. These rise up and fly because of their tiny wings.

Answer: The sounds made by tiny creatures such as the bee and the fly seem to be louder than the sea and the wind at rare moments.

Answer: In the rare moments, when the little voices can be heard, the sea and the wind decide to reduce the volume and become the background music to the little musical voices of the air. The poet uses the word sigh twice to indicate that the sea and the wind are sighing.
