This bothered Kailash and he looked for an answer from his schoolmaster, his principal, family acquaintance, his parents and even the cobbler. Kailash was surprised and pained to get the same response from all of them, which was that the cobbler could not afford education for his son as he was poor. The thought of lost childhood and inequality left a lasting impression on him, which sowed the seeds of Bachpan Bachao Andolan.

Answer: As a tribute to Gandhiji and for the betterment of the socially excluded classes, Kailash organised a community dinner, where food was prepared and served by harijans in a clean and hygienic environment and was to be served to the people of upper castes and local political leaders who were invited as guests. However, not a single person came for the dinner, instead the people of the upper cast got annoyed by this behaviour of Kailash. The upper-class community ordered his family to disown Kailash. He was given separate room, separate utensils and separate entrance to the house. This made him annoyed and he felt humiliated as his family had made him an outcaste and he decided to drop his family name and changed his surname to Satyarthi.
